The Story:

Honolua Bay, located on Maui's West shore, is one of the most famous waves in the world. It's known for it's perfect hollow shape with seemingly endless long rides. Many surf contests are held here and there is a cliffside overlook that gives a great vantage point looking down on the surfers below. You can watch surfers pick up the wave peeling off the point and ride it all the way, deep into the bay. Even a non-surfer can marvel and appreciate the marriage of elegance and power that this wave demands. At dusk it's particularly gorgeous with the sun setting behind the surfers, backlighting the wave and making the surfer a simple black figurine.

It was November of 2016 and the winter swells were just beginning to arrive in Hawaii when this image was captured. Surfer unknown.

***Please note - If you will be hanging your art in a space with a lot of light and reflection, we recommend you upgrade the plexi to Optium Museum Acrylic anit-reflective.
